Meet Your CPA My name is Ed Melia. I now have more than 30 years of service to my clients. I began my professional career in San Francisco with one of the "Big Eight Firms". When I left San Francisco, I assumed responsibility for the tax department in their Oakland office and, later, their Sacramento office. After several years in Sacramento, my wife, Barbara, and I decided to make Sacramento our "home." So, in 1981 I left the Big Eight firm and founded my own firm and continued specializing in the area of taxation. We have three grown children. Our two daughters work for C.P.A. firms in the San Jose, California area. Our son recently recieved his MBA degree and is working in San Francisco. During my "spare" time, I enjoy visiting the Lake Tahoe area where golf is my primary activity during the summer. During the winter we visit the snow. Barbara, my wife, keeps busy with volunteer work in our community - working with preschool children and senior citizens. During her free time, she likes to relax at Tahoe. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California and my Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of The Law, University of California, San Francisco, California. Over the years I have been involved in leadership positions with various civic and professional organizations, including: President of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Sacramento Chapter State Director of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants Director of the Sacramento Estate Planning Council.
